Forests and Beaches
The Landes Region, in the far southwest of France, is a land of sandy beaches, freshwater lakes and pine forests. It offers a unique year-round playground for leisure activities, thanks to its mild climate and magnificent natural setting. Over 150 kilometres (110 miles) of fine sandy beaches give you plenty of coastline to explore, and offer splendid views of the Pyrenees and the Spanish coast. Soustons is a hot surf spot in the Landes region, as are nearby Hossegor, Seignosse and Biarritz. Being smack in the middle of Europe's largest forest means you can enjoy cycling or hiking along hundreds of kilometres of paths.
